Background

Raised in Chicago by a public school teacher and from a family of 5, Jeffrey learned early on the value of hard work. He got his first job at just 10 years old, distributing fliers in the various neighborhoods around his home. That quickly turned into a part-time paper route. Jeffrey would literally ride his bike at 5:30 a.m. – even in the bitter cold Chicago winters – to ensure those in his community were able to read the news over their first cup of coffee. Thereafter, he enjoyed several stints in the restaurant industry. Jeffrey worked his way up from bus boy to waiter to prep cook to head cook.

Work & Entrepreneurial Experience

Catalano & Catalano

At 15, Jeffrey moved on to be a “gofer” in his family’s law firm. He would travel to California every summer and winter holiday, again working his way up the ladder. By the time he was 35, Jeffrey had relocated to San Francisco and was running the entire business. From file clerk to accountant to law clerk to COO, working at the law firm of Catalano & Catalano was an incredible learning experience.

Dr. Stats Fantasy Sports – Founder, Creator & Owner

After an injury sidelined his dream of playing baseball, Jeffrey wanted to remain a part of the sport. He could no longer take the field, but he *could* use his knowledge to create a new business. Dr. Stats Fantasy Sports was officially established in 1996 and was a big pioneer of the fantasy sports industry. Initially starting as a “snail-mail” business, Dr. Stats became an early adopter of the “World Wide Web” and took its business to “the Interwebs.”

Innovative and creative, Dr. Stats was the first website to offer fantasy sports players customized cheat-sheets. Finally, users could enter their own league’s scoring system to produce information that would help them draft the strongest team for their individual league. Jeffrey created a suite of online tools for fantasy players to use to analyze player performance and value. In year two, Dr. Stats Fantasy Sports blossomed with a subscription rate in the thousands. Jeffrey’s writing and analytical work has appeared prominently in hundreds of national publications. Additionally, he has been featured on sports radio and launched one of the very first internet sports shows via RealAudio called “The Dr. and Dan Show.”

Inherent LogoInherent, Inc. – Visionary and Owner

Inherent was a trailblazing pioneer in the early days of the web agency business. Jeffrey bought the company in 2005 and took it in a new direction. Inherent had benefited from being a first-to-market web provider specializing in the legal industry. The company became a standout with technology by developing the very first customized, web-based content management system for law firms. Although it was a huge leader in technology, Inherent lacked high-end design capabilities and needed to evolve and expand its offerings. Once he took the business over, Jeffrey put the focus on specialized brand and design work. Hiring and directing highly trained designers led to many award-winning logos and websites for Inherent’s clients. Furthermore, a software overhaul was needed so he worked with programmers to produce a new technology platform and SAAS model. Within a year of running Inherent, the company landed its first full branding project with a prestigious Los Angeles law firm and dozens more followed suit. Jeffrey’s brand work continues to be seen on several large buildings in Los Angeles and other cities across the United States.

Terralyte – Software Creator

Jeffrey’s largest test to date came about when he was recruited to build a piece of enterprise software for the real estate industry. Terralyte was a massive undertaking with several layers of security and firewalls built in, and featured a full CRM, ERM and knowledge management platform.
